Content and Community Manager

Schloegel Design Remodel is a design and remodel firm relied on by Kansas Citians for over thirty-five years – http://remodelagain.com

We believe very strongly in participating in and building a vibrant community. As such we are seeking to fill the part-time position of Content and Community Manager. This role will be managed in conjunction with our outside marketing agency.

This digital-savvy employee will have a hand in communications, PR, social media, events, and content creation, among other things.

It’s a physical and digital communications role, incorporating online tools and in-person networking to create relationships and ultimately help build and sustain our brand, both online and off.

While every day as our Community Manager is different, this is what the role’s responsibilities may include:

  1. Content creation – writing and editing ongoing blog posts, articles, and newsletters, and capturing photos and short videos of work in progress to share in social channels.
  2. Social media marketing– helping to create content and engagement in social channels such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other strategically relevant online properties.
  3. Events and event planning– helping to coordinate community, client, and partner events.
  4. Public relations– building relationships with local journalists and capturing and promoting company and client news.
    5. Customer relations– responding to online feedback forums such as Yelp!, Guild Quality and Houzz.
  5. Sales support – Working with designers to gather project and sales details to use in the creation of case studies and project showcases.

Here are the skills and attributes we are looking for in our Community Manager:

  1. Outgoing personality – you will be required to walk into networking and customer events and be comfortable introducing yourself to strangers.
  2. Writing skills– a background in journalism or experience with writing is very important as you will be involved in some content creation.
  3. Social media experience– experience with social media and other digital tools is a big plus. Helpful if you can navigate WordPress and understand Twitter and Facebook use for business purposes.
  4. Interest in our industry– Our Community Manager needs to be passionate about serving homeowners and willing to learn about the remodeling industry.
  5. Good employee– Our Community Manager needs to possess great time management skills, ability to multitask, and willingness to tackle new and varied challenges every day.
  6. PR experience– having experience with public relations is a nice as we have a great story to tell.
  7. Education– We value intelligence, personality, and overall fit before looking at a degree. But a degree in journalism, communications or English, or deep PR or corporate communications experience is a great combination.

This is a part time position (20 hrs/wk) – with some flexibility in scheduling.
