A kitchen update was long overdue for these homeowners. For years they’d put the focus on raising their children but they now find themselves empty nesters and the time has come to put some of that focus on their home. Their dark and cramped kitchen was on the top of their list.

The homeowners bought their Mission Hills home knowing they had their work cut out for them. Most of the home was original and in need of updates. The young family has been working on renovations since they purchased the home and when it came time for work in their upstairs renovation they looked to Donna Kirsopp at Schloegel Design Remodel.
Brookside homes boast tons of character, beautiful woodwork, and a quality of workmanship you’d be hard-pressed to find in homes built today. Unfortunately, while these homes have tons of charm they were built for a lifestyle of yesteryear. This particular home’s kitchen had dated linoleum, tile counters, 1950’s cabinets and an awkward layout.
A paneled ceiling, bay window, and original hardwoods help to create plenty of charm in this 1950’s Prairie Village kitchen. And while the homeowner loved so many of the charming details in her kitchen there were a few she was ready to part with. The painted original cabinets were cumbersome to use and the fridge interrupted the flow of the kitchen into the dining and living spaces.

Chris’s Start in the Industry
They kicked off the discussion with how Chris got started in the industry. Chris started in new construction in high school and learned college wasn’t for him.
We’re ecstatic to share Schloegel Design Remodel brought home a National Contractor of the Year (CotY) award! This amazing outdoor space in De Soto, Kansas won in the Residential Landscape Design/Outdoor Living $60,000 and Over Category.
