Schloegel Design Remodel adds another award: BBQ Champ

Kansas City, MO – May 2008 – The Schloegel Design Remodel team of Chris Peterson and Dylan Antes won "Grand Champion" at the Kansas City NARI BBQ Battle May 2-3.

From Chris:

The weather Thursday night was windy and rainy as I set up the booth and stayed the night. My tent actually blew away with the storm that came through around 2:00 am on Friday.

Saturday for the contest the weather was a little better, less wind and rain. The contest went very well for us, we won first place in three of the four main categories: chicken, ribs and pork. Brisket was the only main category we did not place in. With these wins we also took Grand Champion.

We won $25 and a ribbon for each of the three first place wins. For Grand Champion, we $100 and a traveling trophy that we get to keep until we get our chance to defend the title next year. I personally have been competing in BBQ competitions for about 6 or 7 years now. We usually cook in the Lenexa BBQ and the American Royal, 2 or 3 events per year. This is the best we have ever finished.
