  • Award Winning Bathroom Remodel – REMY Gold Medal Winner

Last updated on September 22, 2023

We’re excited to share this 2017 Gold REMY winning bathroom remodel! The previous primarybathroom in this Stillwell home wasn’t laid out well and felt more like 3 different rooms. Not only was it awkward but it was also in disrepair with a bad leak. In fact, the homeowners hadn’t used the bathroom since they’d purchased their home. They were ready for a big update and contacted Schloegel Design Remodel to help.

The Hall of Doors & Mirrors

The old bathroom was nicknamed the “hall of doors & mirrors”. Everywhere you turned you ran into a mirror or a door. The bathroom had 5 doors and even more doorways. The bathroom also wasn’t short on mirrors. The bathtub was surrounded by mirrors which reflected off of the vanities, not a relaxing environment for a primarybathroom.

Bathroom BeforeThe bathroom also had a door leading to an outside balcony which let in plenty of natural light but didn’t provide much privacy.

The Design

The homeowners wanted the bathroom to have an elegant feel with more space. Ron Webster worked with them to put together a design that better fit their needs. The new design removed two closets that weren’t being used as well as a wall. He also reduced the size of one of the existing walls. This opened up the layout of the entire bathroom. Last, in his design, he added a wall to create a separate room for the toilet.

A Remarkable Transformation

The new bathroom definitely captured the desired elegant feel. It’s hard to believe this beautiful open space is the same bathroom as the old dark and closed one. The neutral colors and large Classic Carrara porcelain tile floors help to create a spacious feel.

Bathroom After

The new shower is larger and more open. It stands as a great focal point in the bathroom with the Euro doors letting in plenty of natural light. The mosaic hexagonal tile adds a little dimension while the quartz seat ties the shower in with the vanity.

Who doesn’t love a large freestanding soaker tub? The tub is located in the former closet and provides the perfect place to relax after a long day. The tile surrounding the tub is the same tile and pattern that is used in the shower.

The updated vanity area is large, open and spacious. It provides plenty of storage and still provides separate areas for getting ready. The beautiful London Grey quartz counters by Caesarstone compliment the porcelain tile floor and the chrome fixtures add timeless elegance.
