You know that Schloegel Design Remodel Founder and President Jake Schloegel knows his way around home remodeling. He can tell you how to improve your floor plan and what to do when a project hits a snag.
But did you know that recently Jake has been spending his time learning how to dance? With the help of his professional dancing coach, Laura Szymanski, Jake is learning all the steps he'll need to impress on the dance floor.
And no, it's not just to impress his wife, Debby Schloegel (although that certainly doesn't hurt!). Jake is dancing for a great cause: Cristo Rey Kansas City's annual fundraiser, Dancing with the Kansas City Stars.
Each of the eight Kansas City stars participating is tasked with performing a full dance routine with the mission of raising funds for Cristo Rey students. Additionally - and more importantly - each star fund raises to earn votes. Ten dollars equals one vote and all funds go directly to Cristo Rey scholarships.
So far, Jake is keeping quiet on what moves we can expect to see from him on the stage. He is, however, eager to talk about why it's so important to support Cristo Rey and its mission.
"Cristo Rey is one of those rare schools that not only offers a top-notch education but also instills values like respect and accountability in its students. I think places like Cristo Rey are more important than ever in cities like Kansas City, where so many young people are facing real struggles," Jake said.
"I am definitely not winning this thing because of my dancing skills. Fundraising is my best chance of getting first place!"
The big night is April 22 and Jake's goal is to raise $100,000 for Cristo Rey and its 375 students. To donate and learn more about the fundraiser, please visit www.dancejakedance.com.
