Bathroom Remodeling Advanced Tips
Part of the Schloegel Design Remodel Difference
|
|
Relocating
plumbing fixtures is not that big of a deal. Don’t
limit your design because you don’t think you can
move a fixture.
|
| |
Removing walls
is easier than you think. Often the best design comes
from expanding the room and taking over dead or unusable
space.
|
| |
Don't be cheap
when it comes to proper lighting. Hey, the better the
light the better you look.
|
| |
Tile is still
a great product for shower walls.
|
| |
Countertop
selection can be forever - choose wisely.
|
| |
Watch for "flash
in the pan" trends - they grow old quickly. |
| |
Form follows
function - think about task specific space - it needs
to work before it can look good.
|
| |
Installing
in-floor heat below tile floors can make the bath warm
and inviting.
|
| |
If there is
room, put a seat in the shower. |
Kitchen Remodeling Advanced Tips
Part of the Schloegel Design Remodel Difference
|
|
Do not rely
on swatch books and paint chips when choosing colors,
fabrics and materials for your home. Use these to narrow
choices and then preview real samples. Especially for
granite countertops - make actual slab selections.
|
| |
Focus on cooking
centers. Pay close attention to placement of appliances
in the kitchen. Allow a minimum of 12" of space on
each side of the range. Avoid placing ovens above shoulder
level. |
| |
Sunshine should
be on every kitchen's list - natural light is critical
in a kitchen. |
| |
Remember cabinet
accessories can make life easier. |
| |
A detailed
plan is a must before remodeling starts. |
| |
Appliances
do not have to be seen anymore - they are easily hidden
as cabinetry or furniture pieces. |
| |
Decide on a
theme or "inspiration" piece to plan the room
around. |
| |
Do something
different with the island - change its color, countertop
or style. |
| |
The cabinetry
you select for the kitchen will make the biggest statement
in the room. |
