  • 2019 Big Splash Bathroom Reveal – The Uria Family

Last updated on September 20, 2023

Late last year we announced our three 2019 Big Splash recipients; David Uria, Sage Rovenstine, and Henry Flores. It was just too hard to select one! Read more about them. And while the plan was to do a partial remodel on each of their bathrooms, the Schloegel team couldn’t help themselves and all three boys will end up with a brand-new bathroom. Today we’re sharing the Uria family’s bathroom reveal. With everything going on in the world we’ve been a little late in sharing this, David’s bathroom was completed on February 14. Linda Wagar did an amazing piece for Fox4 on David’s family and the new bathroom. Take a look.

The Previous Bathroom

Every single person who walked into the Uria’s home was touched by David and his never-ending accumulation of jokes. Kelly Summers designed David’s new bathroom, and she had her work cut out for her. The bathroom is only 5’ x 8’, and due to structure and the adjacent bedrooms, the bathroom needed to remain that size. She switched the standard toilet to a wall hung toilet which provided David the clearance he needed to move around in his bathroom. She also swapped the tub for a zero-entry shower. Judd Galloway had the privilege of working in their home, and Judd and David became fast friends. In fact, Judd and several members of the Schloegel team threw David a party to help celebrate his 11th birthday. Many of his gifts were items to update his bedroom to a Star Wars theme.

Bathroom Before

The New Bathroom

Kelly and Judd managed to make a small bathroom feel large and give David enough room to safely move in and around the bathroom. The zero-entry shower is Onyx with a tile accent. The Onyx Collection generously donated the shower.

The wall-mounted toilet also provided extra space. Grandview Winnelson donated the toilet along with the other fixtures. The beautiful cabinet above the toilet was built and donated by Crown Cabinetry. The wall-mounted sink allows David to wheel under it. KC Millwork generously donated the door and trim, and McCray Lumber donated materials to side the pieces of the home. Sherwin Williams donated paint.  Finally, we couldn’t have completed the job without the generous help of Jason Wright Electric and Inception Plumbing.

We hope David and his family are enjoying their new bathroom and it makes day to day activities easier. Our team was sad to leave but truly enjoyed working with the Uria family, we feel pretty darn lucky to have these opportunities.

We’ll be sharing the Rovenstine Big Splash reveal next!
