  • 2nd Annual Holiday Dumpster Décor Contest

Last updated on December 10, 2022

It’s our 2nd Annual Holiday Dumpster Décor Contest and oh boy is it a good one! We had so much fun last year we decided we should try and do it every year. Take a look at last year’s Dumpster Decor contest. This year the teams did spectacular and it’s official we have the most creative team in Kansas City, well we may be a bit biased.

This year we split everyone into three teams. Each team was given a small budget and challenged to be creative. They then had three weeks to plan and decorate. Here are the final results!

For reference here is an undecorated dumpster.

Santa’s Stuck

American Stroke Foundation

Yes, there is a dumpster back there. The team created a living room with fire included and Don Richeson and the homeowner’s job are enjoying the cozy space. We’re loving the F-R-A-G-I-L-E leg lamp and Santa Claus stuck in the chimney. Hopefully, he gets out in time for Christmas Eve in two weeks!

The team selected the American Stroke Foundation. The American Stroke Foundation’s Vision is to T reach out to stroke survivors and their families across America and empower them to reclaim hope for life after stroke.

Since their inception in 1997 they’ve served over 4,000 stroke survivors and their families, regardless of their ability to pay. Through our fitness programs, classes, life skills development, community outings and support groups, the ASF continues its mission of supporting stroke survivors and their families through their ongoing journeys of ‘life after stroke’.

Christmas Vacation

Veteran’s Community Project

Did you know Cousin Eddie was here in KC?! Well, he was, in fact almost the entire crew stopped by to check the new RV err…I mean dumpster. Yes, friends, that’s a dumpster hiding behind that there RV. Our expert staff used pyrotechnics for the tree and before you get too worried we had a fire extinguisher on the ready.

Team Christmas Vacation selected the Veteran’s Community Project. Veterans Community Project was founded by a group of combat veterans in Kansas City, Missouri who resolved to stand in the gaps of a broken system that left too many of their brothers and sisters behind.  They are dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took the oath for our country.

Santa’s Helpers

Fox4 Love Fund for Children

Do Santa’s Helpers look a little round and yellow to you? The Minion crew is throwing in a helping hand this holiday season. Let’s cross our fingers things go smoothly. I mean should they really have access to saws?

The Santa’s Helper’s team selected FOX4 Love Fund for Children (our partner for Big Splash). The FOX4 Love Fund for Children bridges the gap in youth services by partnering with advocates to fulfill unique, unmet needs of children across Kansas City.

We’re excited to donate up to $2,000 to one of these wonderful organizations but we’ll need your help to get there! For every single vote, we’ll donate $1 (with a maximum donation of $2,000) to the winning team’s charity. But wait our friends at U-LOAD-IT not only let us decorate their dumpsters but they are in the holiday giving mood and are matching the donation up to $500. That means if we can get 2,000 votes, $2,500 will be donated to a charity. So put your mad networking skills to work and share this contest on social media, over water cooler discussions….anywhere!

Take a minute to vote on the dumpster decor you believe has the most holiday cheer. Voting ends Wednesday, December 18.

Thank you, Kansas City, for a wonderful 2019 and celebrating the holidays with us!
