Each year ProRemodeler puts together its list of Forty Under 40 in the remodeling industry. It’s a group of individuals who embody hard work and ingenuity and Charlie Schloegel was selected as a winner this year!

The Forty Under 40 awards are special to those of us at ProRemodeler, because it gives us an opportunity to celebrate something of paramount importance to our industry: young talent. They come from vastly different backgrounds, locations, and specialties, but it’s their stellar reputations that drew our attention, and their innovations and accomplishments that earned them this award. -Pro Remodeler
A well-deserved award
Charlie’s parents Jake and Debby Schloegel started Schloegel Design Remodel in 1980 and Charlie grew up with the business. Charlie joined the Schloegel team in 2011 but by no means was it “you have a job because of your name” situation. Jake let Charlie know he would be welcome but needed to bring value to the company.
Charlie did just that and more. He started our Handyman department and it took off! Today the department has eleven team members, two Project Managers, and three Sales team members. It’s not just your typical change a door or light fixture service, as Charlie says it’s “handyman on steroids”. Schloegel’s handyman services fill the gap between smaller jobs and full remodels and over time the department has become 40% of the company’s revenue.
That isn’t all Charlie has done although it is a worthy accomplishment in itself. In 2018 Charlie along with Chris Peterson became co-owners of Schloegel Design Remodel as Jake decided to lighten his load in preparation of retirement. The company continues to grow under the new leadership team. The team has expanded to support the influx in remodeling projects seen over the past several years. Charlie has taken leadership in stride.
A little more about Charlie
Charlie Schloegel is the VP of Sales, Marketing, Design & Administration as well as Co-Owner of Schloegel Design Remodel. He has grown up around the family business. At a young age, he developed the desire to become a part of Schloegel Design Remodel (SDR). While attending Rockhurst University, Charlie worked at SDR, both in the field and the office. Since graduation in 2006, Charlie has worked successfully in sales and service of building material products. He earned his Universal Design Certified Professional designation and RRP certification in 2012 and became a Certified Remodeler in 2016.
Charlie is the youngest child of company founders Jake and Debby Schloegel. Charlie and his wife Shannon have four daughters Anna Rose, Caroline Jean, and Molly Kate, Stella Elizabeth and a Labrador Retriever, Olive.
