  • Construction is Underway for Our 2019 Big Splash Recipients

Last updated on January 14, 2021

Late last year we announced our three 2019 Big Splash recipients; David Uria, Sage Rovenstine, and Henry Flores. It was just too hard to select one! Read more about them. And while the plan was to do a partial remodel on each of their bathrooms, the Schloegel team couldn’t help themselves and all three boys will end up with a brand-new bathroom. Take a look at the projects under construction and don’t miss David Uria’s Big Splash reveal tonight (February 26) on Fox4 at 9 pm!

David Uria

Every single person who walked into the Uria’s home was touched by David and his never-ending accumulation of jokes. Kelly Summers designed David’s new bathroom and she had her work cut out for her. The bathroom is only 5’ x 8’ and due to structure and the adjacent bedrooms, the bathroom needed to remain that size. She switched the standard toilet to a wall hung toilet which provided David the clearance he needed to move around in his bathroom. She also swapped the tub for a zero-entry shower.

Judd Galloway had the privilege of working in their home and Judd and David became fast friends. In fact, Judd and several members of the Schloegel team threw David a party to help celebrate his 11th birthday. Many of his gifts were items to update his bedroom to a Star Wars theme.

Sage Rovenstine

Kelsey Kimble had the honor of working with the Rovenstine family to design a bathroom that would better fit Sage’s needs. The original plan was to keep much of the existing bathroom and install a zero-entry shower and widen the door. Well, the updated plan is an entirely new bathroom including new accessible vanity, zero-entry shower, pocket door, comfort height toilet, grab bars, vinyl floors and new fixtures throughout. Plus a few added bonuses like a shower niche for storing shampoo, etc and a built-in bench in the shower. Lead Carpenter, Seth Phillips worked with the Rovenstine family to create Sage’s new bathroom.

Henry Flores

Henry’s project has taken a bit longer to get going as the team has worked hard to customize a bathroom for Henry which includes unique materials, we weren’t able to procure from our traditional vendors. But the good news is we’re on schedule to kick off his project next week!

Leslie Hatfield and Amy Brown really thought outside the box to create a bathroom that perfectly fits Henry’s needs. We’re taking out the shower and installing a zero-entry shower. The team will also be taking out the small closet and installing a ground-level toilet so Henry no longer has to try and climb up to use the bathroom. Next to the toilet will be a small sink at the perfect height for Henry. We’ll also be replacing the existing toilet with a new bidet toilet. Finally, new light switches will be added including one at Henry’s height.
