Creating a Modern Farmhouse Kitchen – Experience 40 Project 7

Schloegel is celebrating 40 years all of 2020 and during that time we are going to highlight 40 past and present projects we’ve had the opportunity to work on. Missed some? Take a look at all the projects. This amazing modern farmhouse kitchen is our seventh project and it took home a 2019 Gold REMY award.

After living without their kitchen for almost a year, our clients were more than ready to have their kitchen back! Unfortunately, their previous contractor left the homeowners high and dry mid-project. Even worse, the work that was done wasn’t correct or up to code. They needed to find a contractor they could trust to finally get their kitchen back. They called us and sat down with Kelly Summers to walk through their project.

The homeowners had already purchased their appliances so we needed to work with them to create a layout with the right flow and functionality. We determined rather than try to retrofit the work that had been done it was best to start with a fresh, clean slate.

A Kitchen Worth Waiting For

The new kitchen flows beautifully into the family room and creates the perfect floor plan for entertaining and creating family meals. Functionality was key to the design in the kitchen with the large island, coffee bar, and built-in display cabinets. Steve Beck and the Schloegel team did a fantastic job with this kitchen!

Painted two-tone cabinets by Crown Cabinetry help perfectly capture the modern farmhouse feel and the custom touches make it a stand out! The upper cabinets are painted white to match the existing trim while the lower cabinets are Web Gray. A walnut shiplap range hood, chevron accent wall, and floating shelves help inject warmth into the space while also adding interest, texture, and depth.

Let’s talk about that amazing island for a minute! Every square inch is used including all four sides plus room for seats. It houses a microwave drawer and a drink fridge. Topped with Q Quartz in Alabaster White it is absolutely beautiful!

The perimeter of the kitchen also has Q Quartz Alabaster white countertops with the exception of the coffee bar area. Honed (a matte finish) Black Pearl Granite tops the coffee bar giving its own moment. The fabulous stainless-steel sink is a true stand out with the bronze Delta faucet. A seamless blend of mixed metals.

Finishing out the space is the amazing beveled subway tile backsplash. The range and range hood MSI Brina accent tile are a fun printed porcelain tile. And finally, the homeowners selected beautiful Amerock gold hardware which really pops against the white and gray cabinets.

The beautiful neutral cabinets really set the stage for the many unique elements to stand out and it all comes together in this stunning modern farmhouse kitchen!
