We are following along on the progress of this Leavenworth home built in the early 1990s. The remodel will include a new layout as well as fabulous finishes. Just in case you missed it here’s Week 1 and Week 2. The homeowners worked with Kelsey Kimble and communicated their wishlist for their new kitchen. Kelsey took their visions and ran with them to create a stunning new space. Follow along the next few weeks to see the amazing transformation!!!
Now that Bill Workman and Ryan Battle have the space demolished it’s time to start putting the pieces back together!
Flooring, Plumbing & Electrical
The homeowners elected to replace all the old flooring through the main living areas. The kitchen, dining, and entryway were tiled while the living room was a hardwood style laminate. They wanted to have one flooring type throughout. Durability was very important. They have two dogs and acres of land so they wanted something they could easily clean that didn’t scratch. LVT is the perfect option! It provides the beautiful look of hardwoods but is built for durability. In order for the LVT to lay flat throughout Bill had to grind the mortar off of the concrete. When they completed the grinding, they started laying the floors.
The new layout moved the sink and appliances requiring plumbing and electrical updates. So while the floor laid the floor the Jason Wright Electrical team did the electrical rough-in. The plumbing crew roughed in the new plumbing.
Kitchen Drywall, Cabinets & Paint
With the groundwork laid comes the fun part! I guess drywall isn’t that exciting but it leads to the fun stuff. The team laid and mudded new drywall and patches as necessary. Next up, cabinets and paint.
Deciding the perfect gray color was tricky. The skylights over the kitchen add a ton of natural light and make the colors change throughout the day. The homeowner said she made sure to look throughout the day for days to make sure she picked a shade she liked ‘around the clock’. Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray was the ultimate winner.
And finally, cabinets!!!! Kelsey and the homeowners decided on Crown Cabinetry with a mix of painted and Walnut finishes. The majority of the cabinets would be painted Sherwin Williams Foggy Day while an accent piece for the sink would be stained Walnut. Kelsey also put in several shelves in Walnut. Bill and Ryan expertly started installing the cabinets.
