  • A Kansas City Bungalow Undergoes an Amazing Kitchen Transformation!

Last updated on July 1, 2021

The homeowners of this bungalow decided to overhaul their home and had an exterior and interior project going on simultaneously. Their exterior had seen better days and our Handyman and Paint Services team helped return the beautiful home to its original glory, take a look at the before and afters. Ron Webster worked with the family to create a more modernized kitchen that better fit their needs.

Before the remodel, the kitchen was dated and small. It had an awkward, unused space next to the refrigerator, little counter space and overall felt cramped and dark. The homeowners expressed their need for more workspace, storage and wanted to somehow bring their laundry upstairs. They wanted to use the space in their home more effectively.

Floor Plans

Ron came up with several new floor plan options for our homeowners to choose from.

Option One

This option left the original kitchen footprint and brought up the laundry. Because this option fit into the original home’s footprint it was a little friendlier on the price but didn’t quite get the homeowner’s what they wanted.

Option Two

The ultimate design choice! As you can see the design feels much larger and includes an island. The shape of this design offers great function in the kitchen. With the cooktop in the island, the fridge moved to the wall with the sink and oven. This was achievable by closing in the covered patio off the kitchen.

An Amazing Kitchen Transformation

Since making good use of space was one of the key components to make everything work in this kitchen remodel, Ron had to find a new place to house the washer and dryer. The new design put the washer and dryer in the kitchen without making them a focal point and taking away from this amazing kitchen.

After Laundry

The old flooring was torn out and replaced with new oak hardwood with a sand stain finish.

After Sink Wall

After the remodel, there was ample counter space and storage around the sink. The backsplash we used is a Subway tile installed in a herringbone pattern to add some extra dimension. By bringing the backsplash and the cabinets to the ceiling, this space feels much larger and the ceilings seem taller.

The beautiful cabinets are Aspect Heritage and are stained in Castlegate. They are topped by bright Cambria quartz in Torquay. The white makes the room feel clean and the colors compliment the exposed red brick.

The homeowners love their new kitchen with its large island and bar space. They now have plenty of space for everyday life as well as a great kitchen for gathering friends and family.
