  • Kansas City Contemporary Home Renovation – Wk 8

Last updated on September 22, 2023

This is week 8 of the Kansas City Contemporary Home Renovation Series. Just in case you missed it, here’s Week 1, Week 2, Week 3,  Week 4, Week 5Week 6 and Week 7.

This week Billy and his team wrap up the final items on the renovation and prepare to hand it back over to the homeowners, right on schedule. Just like many other areas of the home renovation, there are plenty of final items to keep them busy including placing appliances, installing hardware, backsplashes, and counters.

Electrical, Lights & Appliances

Setting up the appliances, lights and other electrical items take three days of electrical work. There are quite a few appliances and a lot of lights. An often overlooked but extremely important element in renovation design is light. Donna made sure the lighting in this renovation is perfect.  The right lighting can create the right mood at the right time or event. To create that perfect lighting, they added many dimmable can lights. In addition to the can lights, the team also installed pendant lights in the prep kitchen, a powder bathroom light fixture and laundry room light fixtures.

The team placed all the appliances and hooked them up in the kitchen, prep kitchen, family room bar and laundry room.

Doors & Hardware

The home design included all new interior doors. The new white doors are a Lynden Denman contemporary style. The team set the new doors and installed the hardware.

The team then installed the cabinet hardware including the beautiful solid brass satin oil rubbed kitchen hardware used in the kitchen and prep kitchen.

Counters, Backsplashes & Hardwoods

After the appliances are installed, the countertops are installed. The kitchen, kitchen island, prep kitchen and fireplace mantle is Ceasarstone quartz in Lagos Blue. The laundry room counters are Ellipse Snowflake quartz.

Once the counters are installed, the team worked on installing the backsplashes. The kitchen and prep kitchen backsplashes are metallic backed glass. While the laundry room’s backsplash is a tile laid in a decorative pattern.

The team then protected all the cabinets, counters and appliances so they could apply the final coat to the hardwood floors.

Finally, construction is complete! All the renovated rooms are professionally cleaned so the homeowners can enjoy their new spaces right away. Schloegel always makes sure renovated rooms are clean and ready to use when they wrap up a project.

Next week we’ll FINALLY reveal the completed renovation of this amazing Contemporary Home Renovation!
