Kelsey Kimble Discusses Kitchen Trends on KC Live

Kelsey Kimble joined Kelly Nyberg on KC Live last week to discuss some of the latest trends in kitchen design. If you are looking to update your home, check out the must-try kitchen trends including kitchen islands with butcher blocks, fun lighting, decorative hood vents and more.

Islands with Butcher Blocks

People are choosing to butt the block on one end of the island or the other. It adds some warmth to the quartz or granite and gives you a fun place to prep your food. It’s a great way to change up the traditional island and make it a little more unique.

Fun Lighting

Lighting is your chance to add personality to the space. We’re no longer limited to clear glass globes. With today’s lighting choices you can mix finishes, compliment looks with one another and adds a punch of personality. Whether modern, traditional or transitional, lighting is the finishing touch.

Hood Vents

The traditional stainless-steel hood vent is not going away but we’re seeing more options. We are seeing all types of options including mixed finishes on hood vents, incorporating it into the cabinetry or wrapping it in different material like metal or wood. It adds a ton of interest into the space.

Stained Cabinets

We’re seeing stained cabinetry come back. For a while, paint was the big trend but now, we’re seeing stained wood and it’s often mixed with a painted cabinet. There are tons of options in staining from a gray color to classic darker wood. Lighter stains are also big right now especially on islands where it complements the perimeter cabinets.

Quartz Counters

9 out of 10 times when someone asks what is that countertop it is quartz. Quartz is the most prominent countertop that we use because it has so much variation in colors and finishes. It’s also so easy to care for and maintain that it really is the number one countertop.
