While this Prairie Village Cape Cod style home was full of charm it wasn’t conducive to entertaining and each room felt closed off. Our wonderful client met with Ron Webster and shared her goals for the remodel. She wanted to create an open floorplan for entertaining and make her kitchen more functional.
An Open Floorplan
Ron helped create a floorplan that would open up the main level of the home. By taking out the unused breakfast area Ron was able to relocate the laundry to the main floor. Removing the two walls separating the hearth room, dining room and kitchen provided the open floorplan our client was looking for. A larger window above the sink made the galley style kitchen feel much more spacious and brighter. Finally, reconfiguring the kitchen provided more storage, counter space, and overall improved functionality.
A Beautiful New Kitchen with Farmhouse Vibes
It is amazing what removing a few walls can do for a home! What once felt small and cramped now feels spacious and open. The Aspect white cabinets in Tundra keep the space bright and open shelves next to the window above the sink help enhance that open feel. Upper cabinets may have made the kitchen feel a bit more closed in. The shelf stain injects warmth into the white kitchen and ties into the stained hardwood floors. The shelves also enable our client to inject color with her personal décor.
White quartz countertops also make the kitchen feel larger and are beautiful Alabaster White by MSI Q Quartz. A herringbone pattern and non-standard 2×8 subway tile lend to the classic farmhouse feel but with a unique twist.
White, horizontal shiplap installed on the back wall adds to the farmhouse feel. Notice the client decided to use all pulls rather than knobs and pulls creating a uniform feeling. The classic style pulls are Top Knobs Hillmont in Flat Black and tie in perfectly with Moen Align Matte Black faucet.
