  • Schloegel Celebrates KC NARI’s 2017 REMY Awards

Last updated on March 22, 2024

It’s Awards Season and the Kansas City chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) held its annual awards program, the REMY Awards, last Tuesday, January 23rd. We’re proud to announce Schloegel Design Remodel won awards for seven projects including the Best of Show $75,000 – $150,000. It’s quite a feat to have won an award every year since NARI started their awards program in 1990. This is especially so as Schloegel is the only Kansas City remodeling company to have done so.

We have shared several of these awesome projects over the last year.  We will also be sharing more details for those projects we haven’t yet shared over the next few months.

Best of Show $75,000 – $150,000 &

Kitchen Remodel $60,001 – $100,000 – Gold & All Star

The layout in this kitchen was disjointed, the lighting was dim and the cabinetry and finishes left much to be desired. The perk of this space was the adjoining back hall, mudroom and powder bath. These areas, while desirable, needed to be re-worked to improve the size and flow of the future kitchen space. The new kitchen features custom cabinetry, a large island, banquette, china cabinet, new powder bath and mudroom with lots of built-in storage. A huge change was made to this space, but the original character and charm remain intact with all the modern amenities incorporated! Read more about this project.

Bath Remodel Under $25,000 – Gold

This family was hoping to create a modern guest bathroom. Clean simple lines with a floating vanity, white countertop; with a gray and white color palette with a tub enclosure that didn’t impede bathing the children, were the requests.  The formerly drab bathroom was transformed through a collaborative design process. A 4 inch thick pure white quartz top adorns the beautiful new frameless Eclipse cypress floating vanity. Moen 90-degree fixtures were also installed on the new rectangular under mount sink. The modern sconces and metal framed mirror are the perfect compliments to the modern bathroom. A recessed ceiling shower curtain provides a modern solution to the bathing problem. Bath Remodel $25,001 – $50,000 – Gold

This Stilwell primary bathroom felt like three different rooms in one. The clients had not used their bathroom since they purchased the home because of a bad leak and they wanted to do a major update so they waited until they could do everything they wanted. The bathroom was designed to have an elegant feel while creating space and function. The neutral colors palate and large format tile floors gave the bathroom a spacious feel. The larger shower was more open while creating a good focal point in the bathroom. The design of the new vanities increased countertop space and cabinet storage.

Entire House Remodel $250,000 – $500,000 -Silver

Nothing is more rewarding than working with a satisfied client on multiple projects. We completed a home remodel for these clients in 2014 and, recently, they engaged us to again help them transfer their newest dream home into reality. This majestic home, built in 1991, needed an update. The homeowners have different design styles. He prefers very modern while she leans towards a more traditional taste. Melding together both of these design styles created a home which reflects both their lifestyle and personalities. The final design shows a blend of color and contrast of traditional and modern with both whimsy and practicality. This amazing home is a great example of modern married with traditional.

Entire House Remodel $500,001 – $750,000 – Gold

Traveling the world inspired this couple’s desire for a whole house remodel. The kitchen has a wall of glass and a vaulted ceiling with skylights. Spalted maple cabinetry with a live-edge table top and hood façade create an eclectic look. The former laundry room, off of the kitchen, was turned into a prep kitchen. The family room showcases a reef tank suspended over a bar and a wall of niches for a TV and several art pieces. A new powder bath was added to the family room, and the previous hall bath was expanded into a modern laundry room. Read more about this project.

Kitchen Remodel $100,001 – $150,000 – Gold

This talented family of six share a love of music, coffee, and baking. Their existing split-level home divided up the main floor into four small living spaces. They dreamed of having a chef’s kitchen with a gas range, double ovens, a large island, and a place for their professional espresso machine. Their love of eclectic style influenced the selection of the handmade cement tile inlay as the inspiration for the new kitchen. The new open floor plan with the navy painted island, white cabinetry, quartz countertops, and brass fixtures reflect the personality of this vibrant family and their seven furry companions. Landscape Design/Outdoor Living Over $60,000 – Gold & All-Star

The clients live on a beautiful ranch. They wanted to expand their existing stone and wood trellis outdoor kitchen. As well as replace a kidney-shaped pool. The wish list: shade areas without blocking first-story windows, a place to gather/entertain, cooking stations, and a pool that would not interfere with the view of the pond. A two-story porch with a low covered area became the concept. The plan also included a two-sided fireplace, one side for seating/gathering the other for cooking. Finally, the plan included a restaurant grill insert and a whole hog pit. A true backyard retreat. Read more about this project.
