About the National CotY Awards

Each year contractors from seven regions nationwide vie for the highest industry award recognition. This year, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) named 40 National CotY winners. NARI announced the winners at their annual Spring Business Meeting. Chris Peterson was in attendance to accept on behalf of Schloegel.

“To say I was honored to accept the CotY award, on behalf of Schloegel, would be an understatement. Our remarkable team’s vision, hard work, and execution created this amazing outdoor space. It’s a great privilege to be recognized alongside some of the best remodeling companies across the nation.”

– Chris Peterson

The projects are reviewed by an impartial panel of judges, who are experts within the industry and associated fields. They select the winners based on problem-solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation. It is indeed a competitive competition, as all projects equate to over $123 million. The National CotY award goes to members who have demonstrated exceptional work throughout their remodeling projects.

There were seven other outstanding projects competing in the Residential Landscape Design/Outdoor Living $60,000 and Over Category. Take a look at the other fabulous projects.

Outdoor Living in De Soto

Leslie Hatfield worked with the clients to design this stunning space. The clients live on a beautiful ranch with an existing stone and wood trellis outdoor kitchen area. They wanted to expand upon the kitchen and replace the kidney shaped pool.

The new design needed shade areas, a gathering and entertainment space, cooking stations, and a pool that would not detract from the pond. The new two-story porch with a low covered area became the concept. It features a truss gable design with large tapered columns. Eight-foot-tall chandeliers and gas lantern sconces help illuminate the space. The design also included a two-sided fireplace, with one side for seating and gathering and the other for cooking. Finally, the plan included a restaurant grill insert and a whole hog pit. A true backyard retreat.
