  • Fall into this Season’s Top Design Trends

Last updated on January 14, 2021

Bring out the sweaters, blankets and, of course, pumpkin spice everything because it’s officially fall! As we start to spend more times in doors and prepare for the holidays, make your home match the mood with these four fall design trends.

Go neutral

neutralAs we’ll explain in the following paragraphs, this fall is all about mixing and matching, which makes sense as fall is the time to transition from summer fun to cozy living. Consider painting and buying furniture in neutral colors to create a clean back drop for mixing fun patterns and textures throughout a space.

“Curate” your home

galleryFrom October until the end of the year, many people’s homes are in full holiday decoration mode. Some of us go all out for Halloween, while others prefer Christmas decorations, so it only makes sense to “curate” your home in the fall with things that evoke family and warmth. Use family heirlooms as conversation pieces in a room, or create a gallery wall featured family photos from the floor to the ceiling.

Add Some Texture

shag-rugTexture will continue to be a big piece of design into 2017, so style gurus would be wise to start thinking about interesting ways to bring unique textures into a space – which is perfect since most of us equate fall with chunky sweaters and scarves. A brightly colored wool blanket, patterned wall textile, lush curtains or shag rug may be the perfect fit to finalize the style of a room, while also helping it feel warm and cozy.

Stylized Fireplaces and Mantels

Don’t let that space go unused and not styled, though! Install an eye-catching screen, or build shelves in the space. Non-working fireplaces also make great spaces for displaying seasonal floral arrangements, plants and candles.
