This is the fifth post in a series about the Ward Parkway Renovation. Just in case you missed it, here’s Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4. In addition to our updates, you’ll be able to see the renovation from the homeowner’s eyes. The homeowner, Jen, is sharing her journey on Instagram.
This week the roof gets new shingles and the new siding goes on. The Schloegel team also gets the back patio poured. Finally, we’re going to take a look at the insulation and drywall. Drywall is another item that goes on for several weeks but we’re condensing it into this week’s post because reading about drywall for weeks is almost as much fun as watching paint dry.
Roof
While the crew continues roughing in the electrical inside the house the crew completes the roof outside the house. The entire roof is shingled to ensure that they not only match but the roof over the original structure is in good condition.
Siding & Patio
The front and one side of the home are partial brick and partial siding. The brick will remain but the remainder of the house including the additions get new siding.
The back-patio cement is also poured. The back patio will be the perfect place for Jen to entertain friends and family. The fireplace is two-sided with one side on the patio and the other side in the new family room.
Insulation and Drywall
With the electrical rough-in complete the team can insulate the home. A very important step to not only keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer too but it also helps as a sound barrier throughout the home.
Finally, the team starts to drywall and drywall and drywall. You get the picture, there was A LOT of drywall action. Schloegel contracted Lee Drywall Plaster and Stucco to help get the mission accomplished.
Next up, the fun stuff, cabinets, tile, and trim. It’s really starting to take shape and we can’t wait to share some of Jen’s amazing design choices!
