This is the seventh post in a series about the Ward Parkway Renovation just in case you missed it here’s Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6. With the drywall done comes the fun part, installation! In this week’s post, we’ll take a look at the trim work, tile and cabinet installation.
Trim Installation
Doug Drury, Bob Stewart and the Schloegel team start to install the trim. The home will have all-new Lynden doors in the Whitman design. The new baseboards will be 5 ¼ inches in poplar. Crown molding is installed in every room in the home, with the exception of closets and the rooms with vaulted ceilings and beams. The windows and exterior doors are also trimmed in.
The wainscoting in the hallway entrance to the primarybedroom is installed. The entry into the home also has molding applied, including the disguised closet door.
The trim will all be painted a crisp, fresh white when the painting begins. It’s easy to see early on how the beautiful trim work adds to the beauty and originality of the home.
Cabinetry Installation
The cabinets also start to go in. Eight different rooms in the home will have shelves or cabinets of some sort, so needless to say it will be a fairly large job. We called in our resident cabinet expert, Randy Shepherd, to help out.
The mudroom desk, filing cabinet, sink, wall, and utility cabinets were all installed.
The butler pantry has cabinets on both sides for plenty of additional appliance and dish storage including base drawers with a peg system for dish storage.
The family room’s cabinets, drawers, and bookcases are installed.
A plethora of kitchen cabinets are installed, including the sink wall, range all, bar and refrigerator wall and finally, the island.
The full height bookcases with doors in the living room are also installed.
Finally, the primary bathroom vanity cabinets were installed.
Tile Installation
The team also started laying tiles throughout the home. The mudroom’s tile is a classic 12 x 24 porcelain tile called Simply Modern in black.
The hallway bathroom’s tile is a cement tile in Atlas. Cement tiles are a great way to bring in a fun print and color. Jen’s choice is both fun and still neutral. The design team paired the printed tile with the ever-classic white subway tile in the tub. The bathroom isn’t complete and already it looks amazing! The powder bathroom’s Anatolia white penny round mosaic tile is also installed.
The Ward Parkway home is already looking amazing, and we’re so excited to see the end result! Look for our next update, which will include a lot of painting!
