Last week, we began our yearly Big Splash bathroom remodel project on the Vejrosta home in Kansas City, MO. Every year, we select a recipient of a complete bathroom remodel specially designed for homes of kids with special needs.
Abby Vejrosta has Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that hinders communication from her brain to her body. In order to bathe, she needs her family to lift her in and out of the tub, something they are not able to do as easily as she grows. You can read more about Abby and her family here.
The project is simple but life-changing: we needed to expand the bathroom and hallway to accommodate Abby’s wheelchair and install a lift to assist her parents in lifting and transporting Abby.
This week, the project was featured on Fox 4 Kansas City through our partnership with the Fox 4 Love Fund For Children. The Fox 4 Love Fund For Children works to support the funding needs of children in the Kansas City community that are beyond the funding ability of their families. They have partnered with Schloegel on the Big Splash project for the last four years. You can watch the clip below.
