The Hyde Park duplex we are working on has beautiful and historically significant fireplaces.  We researched these fireplaces when we remodeled the neighboring duplex last year and were excited to discover that they are actually finished with tiles created by Ernest Batchelder.

A New Patio to Enjoy the Outdoors

We recently completed a new patio which includes an open area protected with a roof structure, an arbor and a pergola.  The beautiful patio is a stained and stamped concrete surrounded by a curved wall finished with a natural thin stone veneer and capped with the same fieldstone that is used on the walkways and steps.

Having reached an important milestone in this project, Tom Stumpff, takes a well-deserved break from his daily activities.

Under Tom's direction, the crew has completed all the carpentry ruff-in, along with electrical, mechanical and electrical ruff-in.

What Are My Options for Removing Leveling Compound?

We uncovered pine flooring in our 1859 built house it was covered with carpet and ply wood which we removed to find leveling compound. Is there any way to remove the compound short of just scraping with putty knife?

I don’t know of any other way of removing leveling compound other than with a chisel and a hammer.

Can I Remove and Reuse Old Oak Hardwood Flooring?

Our old family home was struck by a tornado and is now condemned. There is over 1000sf of beautiful 60 year old oak hardwood on the floors. Can this be removed and reused? If so, what would be the best way to go about it? We would love to use this wood in our home, both to save money and to remember the old home place.
