How do I adjust window trim for thicker plaster?

I am trying to apply a 2nd layer over the original plaster wall in order to sound proof a room. I was going to use 5/8" Quiet Rock. My concern is how to remove the window trim. Also, if I put a 2nd layer of Quiet Rock over the original plaster will I have to do anything different with the trim to make sure it still fits around the window?  Will the added layer create too much distance between window & trim?

Thanks, Ken

Ken,

Ken,
You are correct in thinking that you will have to make an adjustment to accommodate the new wall thickness.

Kansas City Homes on Ice

I was driving to work this morning when I came across a snowy, icy surprise.  Kansas City had a light snowfall on Saturday night but all the homes, roads and trees are now clear of snow (as you can see from the trees in the background and the bit of the house next door that shows up in this picture).  In fact, in this area of Kansas City, the snow does not even cover all the grass.

Regretting your design? Consider remodeling.

There are a million different reasons to redesign a space. We recently read a blog that reminded us of one of the most common reasons: functionality. Does a wall in your home just not make sense to you? Or maybe a closet could be better placed somewhere else to open up a room.
