Popcorn Anyone? This Media Room is So Inviting!

We recently completed a lower level remodel in conjunction with Design Connection, Inc.  This media room looks so inviting!  What a great place to view a favorite movie or sporting event!  (I’ll take extra butter!)

A week in Wisconsin

Megan and Debby just returned from a great trip in Kohler, WI. Here are a few pictures they took along the way.

This is a picture taken at the Kohler Design Center - a wall of toilets!! The girls toured the Kohler Manufacturing plant and saw actual cast iron tubs and sinks being made – what an amazing process.

Restoring a Kitchen Back to it’s Roots

Can I Live Without a Hot Water Tank?

Jake,

I'm just starting to think about options for moving and/or replacing my water heater. I'm fascinated with the idea of "tankless" systems. Is it really possible to have an entirely "tankless" house? Or must I still have a traditional water heater as well as the individually positioned "boosters" at each water point? I lived in China for a while and I did quite well without a central water heater and only a water heater for the shower.

A troubled tub

In this before picture, you can see a really dated jetted tub. This tub was never used because the first time it was turned on the water turned black from the residual that was in the jets—YUCK! The white tile tub deck and backsplash, as well as the polished brass hardware (that has oxidized), makes this tub replacement a must.

How Do I Remove Soffits Above Kitchen Cabinets?

I am interested in removing the soffit in my kitchen. My first step was to drill a hole to look inside w/a flashlight, but when I tried to do this, I realized that the entire soffit is encased in solid wood w/drywall over it. Do you have any suggestions for removing it or design suggestions where I could use the existing soffit and turn it into storage.
