Lower Level Living

Back in April, we did a post entitled Wood Work in which one of our Lead Carpenters, Gabe Chiu, was shown working on a current remodel project. We are pleased to let you know that the project is done and the bar area is complete!

You can see how the beams that Gabe was working on are incorporated into the final space.

Basement Remodel

We are putting the finishing touches on a lower level finish.  Part of this basement was finished years ago by a previous homeowner and we were able to expand on that for an economical addition to this home. This expanded finished area includes a television room, half bathroom and storage closet.

Debbie Allmon on Restoring Mexican Tile

Our own certified remodeler and vice president here at Schloegel Design Remodel, Debbie Allmon, was recently featured in the Kansas City Star, answering a reader's questions about Mexican tile. The reader's asked:
When my house was built, Mexican tile was put in the front hall, in concrete, over a subfloor.

Finished Basement Remodel

We have completed the basement work that we blogged about earlier this week.  Here are pictures of the completed television room.

Part of our work included constructing the two areas of storage that are flanking the center television stand.

Dramatic Bathroom Makeover!

 

Wow what a dramatic bathroom makeover from Schloegel's One Week Bath!  The old pink tile and pedestal sink came out in this bedroom bath and was replaced with classic white subway tile and a furniture style cabinet with Carrera marble top.

Insulating Troubles in Chicagoland

We are converting our screened-in porch (12x13 ft. on the existing 4 ft. deep concrete slab) into a 3-season room (with insulated windows, 3 ft. wall, and an insulated door.) The enclosed porch has a flat roof with deck (balcony) on top. We live in the extreme weather (heat/humid/wind/cold) of Chicagoland.

1960’s Home Remodeled to Enhance and Update its Original Personality

We recently completed a remodeling project in which we updated an entire home that was built in 1964.  This home had never been modernized since it was built, so it had a great personality reflective of the early 60’s.  Our goal was not to change the personality of the home, but to enhance its individuality through updating and enhancing.

Schloegel Design Remodel Wins KCH&G Awards

Kansas City Homes & Gardens recently hosted their 2010 Remodel of the Year awards. We are pleased to share with you that Schloegel Design Remodel won the 2010 Gold Remodel of the Year Award for Best Kitchen Remodel and also the 2010 Silver Remodel of the Year Award for Best Whole House Remodel!

Our project that won the Gold Remodel of the Year award for the best kitchen remodel category featured a 1980s era kitchen.

Our 1960’s Remodel Continued – Master Bath Makeover

We are continuing our tour of the 1964 contemporary home that we introduced to you last week.

To help you understand how the master bathroom was restructured, I have included some before and after floor plans of this space.  The original bathroom was cramped with a double vanity, toilet and tub, all lined up in a row.
