Houzz recently shared an article about preparing for kitchen construction and we loved seeing one of our projects in the article! The project picture (shown below) is one from the Wyandotte House, a Craftsman-style home in Kansas City that Kelly Summers helped redesign.
In early 2018, our homeowners found themselves at a crossroads. They’d lived in their home for 10 years and love (almost) everything about it. It has character; the neighborhood and location are exactly where they wanted to be, and the school for their three young boys is just down the road.
Brookside homes boast tons of character, beautiful woodwork, and a quality of workmanship you’d be hard-pressed to find in homes built today. Unfortunately, while these homes have tons of charm they were built for a lifestyle of yesteryear. This particular home’s kitchen had dated linoleum, tile counters, 1950’s cabinets and an awkward layout.
Tucked just below Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza is Brookside, a charming neighborhood designed by J.C. Nichols in the 1920’s. Each Brookside home is charming and unique. In these homes, you’ll often find beautiful entryways, gorgeous wood molding, and built-ins.
So, your kitchen is falling apart. The cabinet doors keep coming lose, floor tiles are cracked and your countertop has seen better days. Sound familiar? Perhaps you’ve just started thinking about a kitchen remodel or have been putting it off for years but the time has finally come.
As we announced recently, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry's Kansas City chapter recognized Schloegel Design Remodel last week for two amazing kitchen renovations. This Mission Hills stunner, designed by Amy and Debby, brought home the silver medal in the $100,000-$150,000 category.
We have big news here at Schloegel Design Remodel!
Over the course of the next few months, we'll be rolling out a series of classes called Smart Remodeling Workshops - and we couldn't be more excited.
In a time when DIY and HGTV are all the rage, The SDR team decided to introduce the free workshop series because we have something to add to these conversations!
"We love talking remodeling here at Schloegel and with 37 years of being in the remodeling business, we want to share what we know with the community and really engage people out there interested in home renovation," said Jake Schloegel, founder and president of Schloegel Design Remodel.
2016 is still in it’s earliest days, so we thought we could take a moment to look back at some of our favorite projects of the past year. Join us as we revisit the best of 2015.
From Cabin Fever to Mid-Century Masterpiece
The ironic thing about this project is that we had sat in this kitchen many times several years prior discussing plans for a master bathroom remodel which we completed back in 2010. We knew at some point the dated kitchen would have to go and we would be faced with a total before and after transformation.
Kitchen remodeling can be both challenging and time consuming, especially when the homeowners juggle the projects with their own lives. Even if they hire a contractor, they will likely stress over the entire renovation until it is complete. Hiring a designer and professional remodeler will allow the process to flow more smoothly.
Here at Schloegel Design Remodel, we love helping you transform your home into a beautiful, comforting retreat that stylishly reflects your personality and fits perfectly with your lifestyle.
