A paneled ceiling, bay window, and original hardwoods help to create plenty of charm in this 1950’s Prairie Village kitchen. And while the homeowner loved so many of the charming details in her kitchen there were a few she was ready to part with. The painted original cabinets were cumbersome to use and the fridge interrupted the flow of the kitchen into the dining and living spaces.

This week was all about the cabinets! After Sam discovered an existing problem with the gas system and got it fixed for the homeowners, Joe and Eric joined the project and helped him begin the cabinet install.

What a difference some new sheetrock can make! This week, the project began to really take form as we finished hanging and patching drywall, replaced trim and crown molding, and even began installation of the mantle and shelves around the fireplace.

This week the Schloegel team completed the final portions of demolition, including cleaning the now exposed fireplace. After receiving a lumber shipment early in the week, the team began framing in some of the additions to the kitchen.
